Congratulations Grigor Dimitrov & Simona Halep
A third edition of Tie Break Tens took place on the eve of the Mutua Madrid Open in May, with men’s and women’s tournaments running side-by-side and a new knock-out format used for the first time, and former World No.1 Maria Sharapova headlining the field.
Both the men’s and women’s tournaments were awarded a winner-takes-all prize of $200,000, with an additional $100,000 going to the Mutua charity against domestic violence.
The tournament took place on the evening of Thursday 4th May, with Sharapova joined by French Open champion Garbine Muguruza, World No.5 Simona Halep and Olympic champion Monica Puig.
In the men’s tournament, World No.3 Stan Wawrinka, Grigor Dimitrov and home favourite Feliciano Lopez formed part of an eight-man field.
