Junior Tennis Initiative
A global coordinated pathway that gets more kids competing, more coaches delivering, and more venues buzzing — powered by Tie Break Tens' fast, fan-friendly format.
What is the JTI?
The Junior Tennis Initiative (JTI) is the International Tennis Federation’s national development programme for players aged 14 and under. In partnership with TB10, it grows participation, builds coaching capacity and creates clear, exciting pathways into performance tennis.
Rackets in hands: grow the number of children taking part in Tennis10s activity.
Access to the game: increase Tennis10s competitions and entries.
Places to play: expand the number of venues running regular sessions.
More playmakers: train and certify more deliverers (coaches, educators, organisers).
Pathway for the future: transition more players from JTI to national, regional and international performance pathways.
Why TB10?
Tie Break Tens is tennis at top speed: matches decided by tie‑breaks only. For juniors, that means short, frequent, meaningful points — more starts, more finishes, more confidence.

How it works — the Mix+Match model
JTI competitions emphasise team‑based play at the Tennis10s Red, Orange and Green stages. Events combine ages and genders, maximise match volume, and use TB10 tie‑break scoring for every match.
Scoring
All matches use Tie Break Tens scoring to ensure fast, exciting play and consistent scheduling.
